For dogs
- Food puzzles and snuffle-style foraging games
- Short training sessions (5 minutes, high value rewards)
- Hide-and-seek with toys or people
- Chew time with safe, size-appropriate chews
- Hallway fetch only if floors are non-slip safe
For cats
- Wand toys that mimic prey movement
- Climbing or window perches for bird-watching
- Box forts and paper-bag exploration (handles removed)
- Food scatter or puzzle feeders
- Laser play only if you end with a catchable toy so the hunt finishes
A 15-minute indoor plan
- 3 minutes: warm-up play
- 7 minutes: puzzle or training
- 5 minutes: calm cuddle or brush
Safety first
